Calling PM’s move to upgrade 14,500 schools “Very Good”, the minister has stated that there are nearly 10 lakh government school in India and it will take hundreds of years to fix all of them.
Chief Minister of the National Capital in a letter to Prime Minister Modi has questioned his decision to upgrade more than 14,000 schools across the country. Kejriwal has shared the letter through his official Twitter handle. Calling PM’s move to upgrade 14,500 schools “Very Good”, the minister has stated that there are nearly 10 lakh government school in India and it will take hundreds of years to fix all of them.
“My letter to the Prime Minister. He announced to upgrade 14,500 schools, very good. But there are 10 lakh government schools in the country. In this way, it will take more than a hundred years to fix all the schools. You are requested to make a plan to fix all one million schools together,” said Arvin Kejriwal in a tweet posted from his official Twitter handle.
The letter came a day after the Prime Minister announced the development and upgradation of 14,500 schools across India under the Pradhan Mantri Schools For Rising India (PM-SHRI) Yojana. “These will become model schools which will encapsulate the full spirit of NEP,” PM Modi said in a series of tweets.
The Prime Minister said the PM-SHRI schools will have a modern, transformational and holistic method of imparting education. “(They will) Emphasise on a discovery oriented, learning centric way of teaching. “Focus will also be on modern infra including latest technology, smart classrooms, sports and more,” PM Modi said.
The PM further added, “The National Education Policy has transformed the education sector in recent years. I am certain that the PM-SHRI schools will further benefit lakhs of students across India in the spirit of NEP.”
