Kerala College, School reopening date postponed amid heavy rainfall
With the current situation and to avoid putting the lives of many in danger, the state government has taken the decision to postpone the reopening of educational institutions until normalcy is restored and everyone is safe.
Kerala School, College Reopening: Kerala government has put on hold its decision to reopen the schools and colleges as of now and postponed it until October 25, 2021. As per reports, the decision comes in wake of the flood-loke situation in many districts of the state.
The Schools, Colleges in Kerala were preparing for reopening. The heavy and incessant rains are lashing several parts of the state and the evacuation process is underway. With the current situation and to avoid putting the lives of many in danger, the state government has taken the decision to postpone the reopening of educational institutions until normalcy is restored and everyone is safe.
Earlier, the state government had decided to reopen colleges across Kerala for the final year PG students from October 4, 2021. With the COVID-19 situation improving and vaccination numbers also rising, the government had decided to reopen colleges for fully vaccinated students from October 18, 2021. This reopening would have been started with COVID-19 safety protocols in place and the government also said that these preparations for reopening schools shall also begin alongside.
Kerala School, College Reopening updates is now expected to be shared later by the Higher Education Department. The state has been battling with floods and Metrological Department has also issued high/red alert warnings to several districts. According to the alert issued, the state and specifically some districts can experience 'heavy to very heavy rainfall from October 20 to 24, 2021.
The alert has been issued for areas of Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Kottayam. Heavy rainfall can cause excessive water-logging and flooding of many rivers.
