King George's Medical University to expel 37 MBBS students

King George's Medical University has decided to give the last chance to 37 MBBS students to clear the examinations and get their degrees else the university will show them the doors. These MBBS students were admitted to the MBBS course 20 years back and despite several opportunities and concessions, they are still to complete their course.

The University established a committee on request of these 37 MBBS students to consider running special classes for them, also they were provided counselling but despite all this, these students could not clear the exams.

''Many of these students were married and had school-going children. We did everything legally possible for them to help them pass their exams but our efforts did not yield any positive results," said a KGNU official, as reported by Deccan Herald.

KGMU vice-chancellor Dr Vipin Puri said, "We will give them one last chance to clear the exams. Those who fail will be shown the door."

KGMU to be nodal centre for monkeypox treatment

The university has been made the nodal centre for the treatment of monkeypox. Here the samples of the suspected cases will be collected and if patients are found to be positive for monkeypox, they will also be treated at KGMU.

"In view of the increasing cases of monkeypox in the country, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has taken this decision," said the VC, as reported by TOI.
