CLAT 2025 Result Hearing: The Delhi High Court, while hearing a batch of petitions challenging the CLAT 2025 results, remarked that the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) must ensure the appointment of more qualified and capable paper setters in the future. The observation was made during the forenoon session of today’s hearing, as the court examined the objections raised against specific questions in the CLAT UG 2025 exam.
A division bench led by Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela is hearing the matter. The bench made the comment after being informed by Senior Advocate Rajshekhar Rao, appearing for the Consortium, that there was a split opinion among subject matter experts regarding the correctness of one particular logical reasoning question.
Rao conceded that the question — which dealt with a scenario about homeless individuals — was "wrongly formulated." He added that the Consortium had consulted multiple experts, two of whom provided contradictory assessments of the question’s validity. The court noted that such inconsistencies highlight the need for more rigorous vetting of the question papers and better academic oversight.
The petitioners have contended that certain questions in the CLAT 2025 UG paper were ambiguous, factually incorrect, or poorly structured, thereby affecting the performance of several candidates. In a previous hearing, the court had already observed that at least one question ought to be scrapped.
Meanwhile, the court has decided to hear the CLAT PG petitions separately, given the difference in syllabus and the nature of objections raised.
The matter has now been adjourned for a lunch break, with proceedings expected to resume later in the day. Further directions, including whether the Consortium will be ordered to revise the CLAT UG 2025 results, are expected post-lunch.
