As the Delhi High Court continues hearing petitions on alleged discrepancies in the CLAT 2025 exam, concerns are growing over the quality of the paper and the review process. “If this is the quality of entrance exams and experts at NLSIU, it’s no surprise that India struggles with low standards in legal education, faculty, and the justice system,” an X user remarked, reflecting wider frustration among aspirants and stakeholders.

Appearing before the Delhi High Court, the counsel representing another CLAT UG 2025 candidate questioned the validity of one of the exam questions. The argument centers on whether the question was correctly framed and evaluated.

CLAT 2025 merit list will be released by the Consortium of National Law Universities, mentioning the names and ranks of candidates shortlisted for the seat allotment process. The Consortium of NLUs will publish CLAT 2025 invite list once the CLAT Result 2025 is announced. 

If the CLAT 2025 results are revised, candidate rankings are expected to shift. Corrections in evaluation could lead to improved merit positions for some, while others may see a drop. In case, two or more candidates score the same marks in CLAT 2025, the Consortium will follow the sequence given below to decide the merit rank for CLAT Result:

​The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 for undergraduate programs was conducted on December 1, 2024, with results announced on December 7, 2024. Subsequently, the results faced legal challenges due to alleged inaccuracies in the answer key. On December 20, 2024, the Delhi High Court identified errors in questions 14 and 100 of Set A, directing the Consortium of National Law Universities to revise the answer key and update the results accordingly. This decision was upheld by a division bench on December 24, 2024. Further petitions regarding the results were transferred to the Delhi High Court by the Supreme Court on February 6, 2025.

The CLAT scorecard 2025 will contain the following exam information:

During the hearing, Senior Advocate Rajshekhar Rao, appearing for the Consortium of NLUs, informed the Delhi High Court that two subject matter experts had differing views on one of the contested questions. He noted, “There is a split opinion,” and clarified that the question, which pertains to logical verbal reasoning involving homeless individuals, was improperly framed.

Apart from the above categories, each NLU has its state domicile quota reserved horizontally in all above categories. The percentage of state domicile reservation is different for all participating NLUs, which is confirmed only at the time of admission and seat allotment process every year.

The Delhi High Court on Monday observed that at least one question from this year's Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2025) must be invalidated.

In the last hearing on the CLAT 2025 results, the Delhi High Court division bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela examined discrepancies in the CLAT 2025 answer key. The bench also reviewed the findings and directions issued in the earlier single-judge order.

The Consortium of NLUs has not announced the CLAT 2025 Revised Result Release Date yet. The decision to revise the result or not will be taken by the Delhi HC in today's hearing.

The counselling fee for CLAT 2025 is INR 30,000 for general/OBC category, and INR 20,000, for SC/ST/OBC/BC/EWS/PWD categories. The CLAT counselling fee can only be paid in online mode on the official website of the law entrance exam. The counselling fee candidate need to pay as a token amount against their allotted seat to secure it. After this, candidates will be required to pay the remaining fee against their course, which is the tuition fee+ non-refundable charges+ refundable charges and more. In case, candidates choose to withdraw / exit from their allotted after they freeze/ float, and have paid the counselling fee, then they will get a refund of their amount after deduction of INR 5,000 from it. However, full amount will be refunded only in case when the candidate did not freeze/ float their allotted seat.

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) will conduct CLAT 2025 counselling in online mode. The whole counselling process for CLAT is conducted in online mode. Candidates have to register online to participate in the counselling. Eligible candidates who qualify the exam can register on the official website for the counselling. After that, they have to pay fee to complete the registration process. After registration, candidates have to declare choices for college and course seeking admission into. 

During CLAT counselling, candidates will be provided the option to choose from three options; i.e. freeze, float and exit. Candidates can understand all options below:

Freeze Option: In case a candidate is happy with the seat alloted to him/her then they can freeze it. With this they won't be allowed to appear in the further rounds of counselling. If a candidate freezes the seat, it means that the candidate is confirming their seat at the allotted National Law University (NLU).

Float Option: If a candidate is not happy with the seat allotted to them and wants to pariticpate in further rounds of counselling they can select the float option. This option mean that candidate is accepting the seat allotted to them but is willing to pariticpate in further rouns of counselling for a better college. Candidate must note that in case they choose the float option and is allotted a seat in the next round then the seat allotted in the previous round will be forfeited.

Exit Option: During the counselling process, if a candidate feels that they don't want to pariticipate further, then they may choose an option to exit. If they choose this option, it means that they are withdrawing from the counselling process and they will not be considered for further round of counselling. 

CLAT 2025 Invite List refers to the list of qualifying candidates who are eligible to participate in the counselling process. The CLAT 2025 invite list will be declared by the Consortium after the announcement of the CLAT 2025 merit list.

Acknowledging the growing urgency surrounding undergraduate admissions, the Delhi High Court has indicated that the CLAT 2025 hearing can proceed in two separate batches — UG and PG. The bench emphasised the need to move forward and stated, “Let’s at least begin hearing the UG matters.” This move reflects the pressing timelines involved in the UG admission process at NLUs. During the ongoing CLAT 2025 hearing, Senior Advocate Raj Shekhar Rao, appearing on behalf of the Consortium of NLUs, informed the Delhi High Court that the Consortium is concerned with only two disputed questions in the CLAT 2025 exam.

In response, the bench inquired about the solution proposed by the single-judge bench for these problematic questions. Rao stated that the recommendation was to discard the two questions entirely. Further clarity is awaited as the hearing progresses.

The Delhi High Court is yet to begin proceedings on the CLAT 2025 matter, which has been listed as item number 27 in today's cause list. Before the lunch break, the bench was hearing item number 13, and is expected to reassemble around 2:45 PM.

The CLAT Exam was conducted on December 1, 2024, in a two-hour slot from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The exam was held for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes offered by participating National Law Universities (NLUs).

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) is expected to announce the CLAT UG 2025 counselling schedule once the ongoing court proceedings conclude. The counselling will be conducted for admission to various law courses offered by participating NLUs.
