Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra said during the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Law University's first convocation that law students must work to remove gender discrimination, inequalities and sexual crimes from society.
Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Law University conducted its first convocation and the occasion was graced by dignitaries like Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Rajasthan Governor & Chancellor of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Law University Kalraj Mishra.
Kalraj Mishra said during the event that for citizens of India, the identity of being an "Indian" comes above the individual identities. He also asserted that the Constitution of India is first and foremost.
“We should remember that we are Indians first. First of all, we have our constitution and after that, we have personal identity. The Constitution has given us rights. We have also been given fundamental duties. We all need to be aware of them," he said, as reported by Outlook India.
He also said that law students must work to fulfil their social responsibilities including removing gender discrimination, inequalities and sexual crimes from society and creating awareness about women rights and the underprivileged.
Chief Minister also addressed the students during the event and said that if a common man develops the understanding of fundamental duties and basic elements of the constitution, many social problems of the country would automatically be removed including class discrimination.
Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Law University, Jaipur started its journey on 26th February 2019. It is recognized by UGC (University Grants Commission) under section 2 (f) of UGC Act, 1956, vide notification No. F.9-6/2020(CPP-I/PU) dated 12 May 2020 and also letter No. F.9-6/2020(CPP-I/PU) dated 14th May 2020. The founder Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Dev Swarup, has joined the university on 2nd March 2020.
