Maharashtra FYJC Admissions 2022: After a prolonged wait, Maharashtra first-year junior college (FYJC) admission finally got a green signal to commence from July 26. The state has commenced the admission process for both quota and general first-year junior college (FYJC) seats simultaneously. Until last year, quota admissions-inhouse and minority- began first.
Though registration of students for the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) began on May 30 at 11thadmission.org.in, the state was waiting for ICSE and CBSE students to get their results. From Friday, students started filing forms with their preferences of colleges (option forms). With admissions opened up, students have time until today, i.e. July 27 to submit and lock their option forms.
More than 3.7 lakh seats available
This year, students seeking admission in quota seats (in-house, management and minority) and those applying in the general category will be applying together. "Till last year colleges got about 10 days to admit quota students before CAP set in," a principal of a minority college told TOI. Though it can be a burden on administrative staff, the idea is to help complete the admissions, the principal added.
More than 3.7 lakh seats, including 1.4 lakh quota seats, are available this year. It is expected that round 2 (general) of the process will commence from August 7 to 17, followed by Round 3 and a special admission round. With admissions likely to extend until early September, colleges are hoping to begin the academic year at the same time. Delayed board results led to delayed commencement of the admission process.
