Earlier, while speaking to the media, Gaikwad talked about the rising COVID-19 cases in the state and said, “If Omicron cases continue to rise, we may take a call to shut the schools again. We are monitoring the situation.”

Maharashtra schools, colleges are likely to be shut soon. According to the latest report on the suspension of offline classes in schools and colleges again, the state government is analyzing the COVID-19 situation in the state. TOI report suggests that after taking stock of the COVID situation in Maharashtra after a fortnight, the government would take a call on whether schools and colleges should be kept open or classes should again be conducted online only.

According to TOI, while speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Mumbai University convocation, State minister Aaditya Thackeray said, “People need to stay masked up. The decision regarding school and college will be taken after looking at the situation 15 days from now. This is anyway the holiday season. It is not a great idea to close down campuses. Some students have not seen their school.”

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra school education minister Varsha Eknath Gaikwad has tested positive for COVID19 with mild symptoms. The minister informed about her condition via her official Twitter account. The tweet posted by the Maharashtra education minister reads, “I learned today that I tested positive for COVID-19 after first feeling symptoms yesterday evening. My symptoms are relatively mild. I'm fine and have isolated myself. Request those who met me the past few days to take precautions.”
