Department of Management Studies (DoMS) at Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has started MBA admissions for 2026โ€“28 batch. Candidates who appeared for CAT 2025 can now register and apply online for this full-time Master of Business Administration programme.

Application Window & Fees

  • Applications Open: 25 Dec 2025 on the official DoMS portal (doms.iitm.ac.in).
  • Last Date to Apply: 31 Jan 2026 (midnight)- candidates must ensure both the application and fee payment are completed by this deadline.

DoMS Application Fees:

  • General / OBC / Foreign & NRI: INR 1,600 (non-refundable)
  • SC / ST / PwD - INR 800 (non-refundable)

Payment can be made via Internet Banking, Credit/Debit Card or UPI.

DoMS-ย Eligibility Criteria

This programme accepts a valid CAT 2025 score as the primary eligibility criterion for Indian nationals. Final-year graduates can apply provisionally, depending on meeting degree requirements before joining. IIT graduates with a CGPA of 8.0 or above are exempt from the CAT requirement. Foreign applicants may submit a GMAT score. Sponsored candidates (e.g., through employers) can also apply under specified conditions.

DoMS-ย Selection Process & Interview Schedule

Shortlisting will be based on a composite score that incorporates:

  • CAT score
  • Academic performance
  • Work experience
  • Academic diversity
  • Gender diversity

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for Reflective Writing and Personal Interview (PI) rounds.

What Applicants Should Note

  • Ensure that all certificates and documents - including academic marksheets, CAT scorecard (or GMAT for foreign candidates), category certificates (if applicable) and identification proofs - are ready and uploaded correctly when applying.
  • Double-check fee payment confirmation and application completeness โ€” incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Start preparing for PI/WAT rounds early, as selection invitations are expected in early March.

Q: ย  When is IIM Shortlist released?
A:

IIM shortlist of top IIMs is released in the first week of January soon after CAT result declaration. All IIMs release their shortlist one by one after that in the same month. By the end of January, all 21 IIMs release their MBA/PGP shortlist. The WAT-PI shortlists for admission is released individually by the institutes but for the CAP participating IIMs. For them, the CAP conducting IIM releases the PI shortlist form and guidelines on behalf of rest of them. 

Q: ย  Is there any fee charged for CAT form correction?
A:

No, the candidates do not have to pay any fee for CAT form correction. The facility is provided to candidates free of cost. However, if they have made an error in a field that will not be available for editing during form correction, then they will have to fill a fresh form before the submission deadline and pay the CAT application fee again. So, candidates must review the CAT application form before submitting to check whether they have filled all the information correctly or not. Once submitted, the form will not be editable but of photo, signature and test city.

Q: ย  Can I fill the CAT registration form before, and submit the fee later?
A:

Yes, candidates can fill out the CAT application form on one day and pay the fee on another day, as it is not mandatory to register for the CAT exam, fill out the application form, or pay the fee in one go. The registration and application window will remain open for candidates who have registered for the exam and created an ID until the last date of form submission. The applicant can log in and check/fill/edit the CAT application form anytime during the form-filling period. Only the phone number and email ID will not be editable once registration is complete. However, candidates need to submit the CAT form and application fee before the deadline to be eligible to appear for the exam. The CAT application form will not be submitted until the fee payment is completed. The fee can be paid via debit card, credit card, net banking, and UPI wallet.
