Shiv Nadar University Appoints Rajesh Chakrabarti as Dean of School of Management and Entrepreneurship

Prof Chakrabarti has held key academic leadership roles at the Management Development Institute (Gurgaon), Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jindal Global Business School, Indian School of Business (ISB), and Bennett University.

Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR, a leading multidisciplinary research institution, has announced the appointment of Professor Rajesh Chakrabarti as the Dean of the School of Management and Entrepreneurship (SME).

Welcoming the appointment, Professor Ananya Mukherjee said, β€œWe welcome Professor Chakrabarti to lead our School of Management and Entrepreneurship. Professor Chakrabarti is a distinguished academic, policy advisor and thought leader in the field of finance, public policy and management education. His career spans over two decades across premier institutions and policy organizations in India and around the world. I am confident that under his leadership, the School will scale new heights in academic excellence, innovation, and industry engagement.”

Professor Chakrabarti holds a Ph.D. in Management from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad). His appointment marks a significant step in University’s ongoing effort to shape a business school that blends academic rigor with real-world relevance, and where entrepreneurship is deeply embedded in the learning experience.

On stepping into his new position Professor Rajesh Chakrabarti said, β€œI am honoured to join Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR’s School of Management and Entrepreneurship. I look forward to collaborating with our exceptional faculty and students to further boost the school’s academic excellence and build strong industry partnerships. Together we will work towards preparing our future leaders to thrive in an increasingly dynamic and interconnected global economy.”

Throughout his career, Professor Chakrabarti’s research has focused on Indian financial markets, corporate governance, and public policy. He has authored or edited ten books on subjects ranging from Finance and Public Policy to AI and civil society action. His notable works include the widely used The Oxford Short Introduction to Public Policy in India, and non-academic non-fiction titles such as Grit, Guts and Gumption and Bihar Breakthrough. His scholarly articles have been published in leading international journals including the Journal of Financial Economics.

Professor Chakrabarti has been affiliated with several prestigious global and Indian institutions including the Wharton School, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, as well the India Development Foundation and the Center for Development Policy and Practice in India. He has held key academic leadership roles at the Management Development Institute (Gurgaon), Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jindal Global Business School, Indian School of Business (ISB), and Bennett University. Before returning to India to join ISB, he taught at the University of Alberta, Canada and the Georgia Institute of Technology.
