Shiv Nadar University Appoints Rajesh Chakrabarti as Dean of School of Management and Entrepreneurship

Prof Chakrabarti has held academic leadership roles at Management Development Institute (Gurgaon), Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jindal Global Business School, Indian School of Business (ISB), and Bennett University.

Shiv Nadar University (Delhi-NCR) has chosen Professor Rajesh Chakrabarti as the new Dean of the School of Management and Entrepreneurship (SME).

Professor Chakrabarti has worked in important positions at many top colleges like Management Development Institute (Gurgaon), Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jindal Global Business School, Indian School of Business (ISB), and Bennett University. He has also taught in Canada at the University of Alberta and in the USA at Georgia Institute of Technology before coming back to India.

He studied at some of the best places: Ph.D. in Management from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from IIM Ahmedabad.

The university says this is an important step to make the business school strong, practical, and focused on entrepreneurship.

Professor Ananya Mukherjee welcomed him and said “We are happy to have Professor Chakrabarti. He is a well-known teacher, policy advisor, and expert in finance, public policy, and management education. He has worked for more than 20 years in top institutions in India and abroad. We believe he will help the school grow in academics, innovation, and industry connections.”

Professor Chakrabarti said “I am happy to join Shiv Nadar University. I will work with our teachers and students to make the school better and build strong partnerships with companies. We want to prepare students to succeed in today’s fast-changing global economy.”

His research is mainly about Indian financial markets, corporate governance, and public policy. He has written or edited 10 books on topics like Finance, Public Policy, AI, and civil society action. Some famous books are "The Oxford Short Introduction to Public Policy in India, Grit, Guts and Gumption, Bihar Breakthrough".

He has also published research papers in top international journals like the Journal of Financial Economics.

Professor Chakrabarti has worked with big institutions like Wharton School, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, India Development Foundation, and Center for Development Policy and Practice.
