TANCET 2026 exam was expected to be held in the month of March. Considering the trends from past three sessions, 2023, 2024, and 2025, candidates were predicting TANCET exam in March. TANCET 2023 was held on March 23, TANCET 2024 was held on March 9, and TANCET 2025 was conducted on March 22.
With the exam dates in March, Anna University had commenced the TANCET registration process in January or in the first week of February. Analysis of past timelines shows that the registration window generally opens 50 to 60 days prior to the TANCET exam date. As the notification is not out by the third week of February, applying the standard 50-day timeline from the current date would push the exam to at least April 15. Therefore, a March exam is not mathematically possible unless Anna University significantly decreases the number of days the registration portal remains active.

Delay in TANCET 2026 Update
ToI reported that as per a university official, Anna University received feedback from candidates requesting that the TANCET exam be moved to May. Candidates expressed that exam in May would better align with the academic schedule for those who are in their final semester of bachelor's degree course. UG final results are typically released in May or June. Consequently, Anna University submitted a proposal to the state government to conduct the exams in May. Some professors also notified that the upcoming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu have influenced the decision to postpone the exam timeline.
However, a delay in TANCET would lead to delay of TN MBA admission across the state. TANCET exam in March helped the admission process to be completed before the new academic term. Any official announcements regarding the revised exam dates, and registration dates, are expected to be released soon on the Anna University website.
