TS ICET 2026 May 13 Exam Successful; Know How TGICET Cutoffs will Change after Day 1
TS ICET 2026 is expecting a shift in competition as registrations fall sharply compared to previous years. While the Day 1 exam was rated easy to moderate, experts believe the reduced applicant pool could lower cutoff pressure.
TS ICET 2026 exam will likely witness a change in cutoff trends due to a significant fall in the number of applicants this year. According to official data, only 56,322 candidates registered for TS ICET 2026, continuing the decline seen over the past two years. In comparison, 71,757 candidates had registered in 2025, while registrations reached an all-time high of 86,514 in 2024. The latest figures indicate a drop of nearly 35 per cent from the 2024 level.
The reduction in registrations is expected to affect the admission process for MBA and MCA colleges participating in TS ICET counselling. In previous years, higher application numbers increased competition and pushed cutoffs higher, especially for top colleges. However, with a much smaller applicant pool this year, experts believe that the closing ranks for many colleges may become less competitive.
The TS ICET 2026 Day 1 exam was conducted on May 13 in two shifts. Based on student reactions and expert reviews, the overall difficulty level of the exam was reported to be easy to moderate. Experts estimate that a good attempt for the Day 1 exam could range between 135 and 160 questions with high accuracy.

The expected cutoff trend for TS ICET 2026 will likely depend on two major factors. A manageable difficulty level can lead to higher raw scores among candidates, which generally increases cutoffs. At the same time, the sharp decline in registrations is expected to reduce overall competition. As a result of low participation, candidates with moderate scores may secure better ranks compared to previous years. While leading institutes such as Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad and Osmania University are still expected to maintain high cutoff standards, several mid-tier and upper mid-tier colleges may witness lower closing ranks during admissions.
