Medical colleges denied recognitions are not eligible to admit MBBS students: NMC
National Medical Commission has notified that the medical colleges whose recognitions have been cancelled due to legal issues are ineligible to admit MBBS students in the current academic session.
National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a notice that stated that the medical colleges whose recognitions have been cancelled due to legal issues are not eligible to admit MBBS students in the academic year 2022-2023.
The notification reads, "Those colleges whose recognition and continuation of recognition are due, it has been decided to grant permission for MBBS admission for Academic Year 2022-2023, for the same number of seats admitted in Academic Year 2021-2022. The colleges who have been denied any recognitions due to legal issues by NMC, cancellation of batch/stoppage of admission shall not be considered eligible for permission to admit MBBS students in Academic Year 2022-2023."
NMC's guidelines for implementing Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System
The Commission has made it compulsory for medical colleges to register faculty, demonstrators, tutors, and senior residents in the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (ABEAS). As per the guidelines, the medical colleges must install the ABEAS related devices and these should be connected to the internet through WiFi or optical fibre connection for seamless marking of attendance for medical people.
NMC's notification added, "Making attendance of faculty/ senior residents/tutors/demonstrators through AEBAS is to be implemented immediately on a daily basis by all medical colleges/stand-alone PG institutes. For any future renewal, recognition, CoR (Continuation of Recognition), surprise inspection, increase UG/PG seats, or approval PG course, a college applying for a new establishment should register while they submit their application form. New medical college, data from AEBAS portal will be used for decision making."
