Around 100 students of Snehodaya College of Nursing in Kochi fell ill due to a suspected case of food poisoning. The incident occurred on January 26 and January 27, 2023, and all the infected students are kept under observation. Reportedly, all students are in stable condition, one was hospitalised and later on discharged.

100 nursing students in Kochi fell ill; Food poisoning suspected

As many as 100 students at Snehodaya College of Nursing in Kochi fell ill on January 26 and January 27, 2023. All students are now under observation and a case of food poisoning is suspected in this case. None of the infected students is serious. One was admitted but later on discharged.

Some students still have mild symptoms such as diarrhoea and stomach ache. As per the health inspector, the samples of the ill students have been sent to Thrissur medical college for analysis, as reported by TOI.

Kochi reported increased cases of food poisoning in recent times

As per a report, nearly 200 people have suffered food poisoning in recent times, of these 106 people got infected after having food from Hotel Majlis at North Paravur. Such cases were reported by schools, colleges, vacation camps, hotels, and hostels, as said by health officials.

Moreover, nearly 98 students of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalaya at Pookode in Wayanad sought treatment after developing stomach aches and vomiting. An expert team visited the school and ensured that preventive measures are taken.

Nursing student commits suicide in Bhubaneswar

Saurabh Dey, a 19-year-old nursing student has committed suicide in a nursing college in the Bharatpur area of Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha. He was a resident of West Bengal. 

Bharatpur police have reached the scene and are investigating further into the matter, as reported by Kalinga TV.
