AIIMS New Delhi Celebrates 69th Foundation Day; Establishes Centre of Excellence for Development of AI in Healthcare
AIIMS New Delhi's 69th foundation day was graced by Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav.
AIIMS New Delhi celebrated the 69th foundation day ceremony today i.e. September 25, 2024. The event was presided over by Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav, who appreciated AIIMS New Delhi's legacy of excellence and continues to inspire medical institutions worldwide.
“AIIMS New Delhi has achieved remarkable milestones and is determined to achieve its goal of being one of the top-ranked medical institutions in the world. For the seventh consecutive year since the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF), AIIMS New Delhi has been ranked number one among medical institutions of India, This Institute’s continuous unchallenged status is a remarkable achievement.” the Union Minister said.
An important announcement has been made during the event that AIIMS New Delhi now serves as the National Resource Centre of the National Medical College Network (NMCN) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Through this, linkage with more than 100 medical colleges for UG, PG and other medical education will be enabled. “This objective is being facilitated by the creation of a National Learning Management & Information System, SAKSHYAM, which was launched last year." The union minister further said.
The event also highlighted that over 900 extramural research projects are ongoing by national and international agencies and over 240 are being funded by AIIMS. Besides, AIIMS has planned to build a new hostel complex with 2200 rooms, with an estimated cost of approximately Rs 900 crores.
