AIMSA has demanded from union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya and National Medical Commission that the ongoing issues of the FMGs must be resolved soon and there should be more clarity.

AIMSA urges Mansukh Mandaviya, NMC to clarify FMG’s issues

All India Medical Students’ Association requested the union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya and National Medical Commission to sort out and clarify the ongoing issues of FMGs of India.

Following are the points that the association has raised:

1. Many FMGs had to return from war-torn Ukraine and Russia and pandemic-ridden China and had to continue their education online for no fault of their own. But still, even after clearing a screening test which proves their knowledge, many states are holding back permanent registration for many such qualified graduates with no uniformity for granting Permanent Registration.

2. Students are treated unfairly as even after starting internships in several colleges & hospitals, students are asked to pay fees for internships and still no stipend is being provided to them even after circulars through NMC & concerned State Medical Council. Also Government colleges are not being alloted to students to do an internship and due to this students are having hardship in doing internship in Private Medical Colleges.

3)Also there is no clarification about “NEXT” ,it’s guidelines to Foreign Medical Graduates making Students & Parents in a State of confusion.

Recently, Dr Ashwini Dalmiya, President of the Delhi Medical Association and Executive Member of Delhi Medical Council said that the Delhi Medical Council will release one more list of FMG internships. Also, the Bihar government announced that the government medical college and hospitals in the state will not charge any fees from FMGs of India for providing internships and will also give them stipends and other facilities at par with those extended to Indian medical graduates.
