Bihar to get two new medical colleges by end of 2022
Bihar health minister Mangal Pandey had announced that two new medical colleges at Saran and Samastipur will be ready by end of the year.
Bihar is all set to get two new medical colleges and hospitals in Saran and Samastipur and these two will take the total number of medical colleges & hospitals in the state to 14.
Health department additional secretary Kaushal Kishore said both these hospitals will have 500 beds each and 60% of the construction work has been completed. As per reports, these two medical colleges would add 250 more MBBS seats in the state, as reported by TOI.
"There are currently 1,290 MBBS seats in government medical colleges in Bihar, apart from 100 seats at ESIC Medical College and Hospital at Bihta which has been set up by a PSU. Seven private medical colleges in the state have 900 seats, excluding 150 seats at another private medical college in Muzaffarpur," said Kishore.
State health minister Mangal Pandey had announced earlier that two new medical colleges at Saran and Samastipur will be ready by November and December this year.
State Cabinet approves setting up GMCH in Supaul district
On Tuesday, the state cabinet approved the proposal to build a government medical college and hospital in Bihar's Supaul district and sanctioned INR 603.68 crores for building its infrastructure, said officials, as reported by Medical Buyer.
The medical institution will be named after socialist leader RM Lohia. The government has also planned to set up medical college and hospitals in Munger and Motihari.
