CMC Vellore to Receive INR 500 Crore Grant from Azim Premji Foundation for New Medical College

Apart from establishing a new medical college, the existing 120-bed hospital will be upgraded to a teaching hospital with a 422-bed facility. 

Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore will receive an INR 500 crore grant from the Azim Premji Foundation. The grant will be provided to set up a new medical college and teaching hospital at the Chittor campus in Andhra Pradesh. Along with establishing the new medical college, the existing medical college of a 120-bed hospital will be upgraded into a teaching hospital with 422 beds. 

After receiving the grant, the CMC Vellore will be enabled to expand its famous MBBS programme and focus better on Primary-cum-Secondary Health Care (PSHC). This will further enable the department to address the increasing distinctions in the Indian healthcare system, as per media reports.

It is expected that the partnership will qualify and quantify the relationship between CMC Vellore and the Azim Premji Foundation. The CEO of Azim Premji Foundation, Anurag Behar expressed his delight through this collaboration and mentioned their pleasure to support the efforts through joint collaboration in establishing their second medical college.
