A group of 26 doctors have moved to Supreme Court, requesting it to postpone INI CET 2021 exam for the July session. They have filed a writ petition in the Apex Court. INI CET 2021 exam is scheduled to be held on June 16, 2021, as per the revised schedule.

The petition said that the decision to conduct exam on June 16 is in utter disregard to the assurance given by the Prime Minister’s Office with respect to postponement of PG Examinations. The petitioners stated that PMO had given assurance that candidates would be given at least one month’s time for the exam preparation. “In the instant case, only 19 days prior notice is given. Also centres for examination are in different states or far from the aspirants’ place of working which may require travelling and thereby facing travel restrictions," the petition said.

The petition said that holding the INI CET 2021 exam on such a short notice will build pressure on graduate doctors. It cited examples of class 12th Board and NEET PG 2021 exams which have been postponed/cancelled recently.

Doctors contended that candidates have not been fully vaccinated and travelling in this situation for the exam would pose risk to their lives. “Conducting of this examination is resulting in endangering the life of thousands of doctors who are frontline workers in different hospitals which is a clear negation of Article 21 of the Constitution of India," the petitioners submitted.

On May 27, 2021, AIIMS released an official notification stating that INI CET exam would be held on June 16, 2021 in online mode. INI CET 2021 admit card is scheduled to be available on the official website of AIIMS on June 9, 2021. According to INI CET 2021 pattern, the question paper will comprise 200 MCQ and candidates will be getting 3 hours to answer them.
