FMGE Latest News

Foreign Medical Graduates in Andhra Pradesh have gathered to protest against the injustice they face due to the mandatory one additional internship year despite not falling in the criteria. The All FMGs Association (AFA) has shared a video on the social media platform 'X', formerly Twitter, highlighting the fight of students against the injustice of additional internship years.

The association highlighted that despite the notice from the National Medical Commission (NMC) granting permissible compensation, APMC and other state counselling authorities are barely following the guidelines.

"I find it surprising that APMC and several other state councils are unable to interpret a straightforward notice from NMC_BHARAT, dated 19-6-24, which clearly states that compensation is permissible." The AFA stated.

Besides, the association has urged the relevant authorities to consider the valid requests of FMGs by giving them permanent registration and reducing their internship duration as per the commission's notice. "The relevant authorities ought to heed the legitimate requests of FMGs by granting them permanent registration and shortening their internship duration in accordance with the notice from NMC." The association further stated.

FMGE Protest: Notice from NMC

The National Medical Commission, on June 19, 2024, notified the students who have sufficiently compensated classes in physical onsite and passed the examination equivalent to MBBS in India shall be considered for a one-year mandatory internship.

"In continuation to the Public Notice of even number dated 07th June 2024, it is clarified that all students who have sufficiently compensated classes in physical onsite in lieu of the online classes and subsequently passed an examination equivalent to MBBS in India shall be eligible for the one-year mandatory internship as specified in the CRMI Regulations 2021." Reads the official notification by NMC.

Q:   How many attempts are permitted in FMGE?
A:
There are no restrictions on the number of attempts. If a candidate is unable to clear the examinations in June session, he/she can reappear in the December session. Qualifying the exam is mandatory criteria for those who have completed primary medical education outside India. They have to qualify the exam to practice in India. Candidates have to register online and submit application form for FMGE exam.
