The Junior Doctor's Association of BJ Medical College & Civil Hospital has issued a statement to inform that the members have collaboratively decided to show their non-co-operation towards the new OPD timings.

A health department government resolution (GR) extended resident doctors' OPD timings till 8 pm from September 17, 2022, and also mandated that doctors work on Saturdays and Sundays.

As per the statement released by the doctors' association, the new timings are going to affect indoor patient care and management and also ICU and Emergency management would also get affected. "Resident doctors' academic curriculum is going to affect because of this new circular of OPD timings. Because of irregularities in the counselling schedule of NEET PG, there is already a deficit of one post-graduation admission batch, this new curriculum will lead to mismanagement as there would be much deficiency of resident doctors," added the statement.

The doctors also cited NMC's circular that talked about resident doctors suffering from mental and physical exhaustion due to long working hours, no week off and non-sanctioning of leaves during emergencies.

FAIMA Doctors Association tweet reads, "Requesting @MoHFW_GUJARAT @GujHFWDept @Rushikeshmla to consider Doctors as human being! It is clearly violation of basic human rights! Duty timings are increased to 8 PM in night & No Duty off on Sunday without increasing in manforce. We request @India_NHRC to intervene ASAP!"
