The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has allotted land for the establishment of a medical college and also approved to start eleven new government colleges in the state.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired a Cabinet meeting that approved the Medical Education Department to allot 97,452 square metres of vacant land near Kanavati on Mhow Nasirabad Road for establishing a medical college in this location. The owner of the land will be the municipality in Neemuch Nagar, without premium and an annual land rent of INR 1. The land must be rezoned for public use.

Furthermore, the Cabinet has approved to start of 11 new government colleges in Anuppur district, Dinara and Dimani in Morena district, Rithorakala, Rajoudha, Gormi in Bhind district, Jaisinagar in Sagar district, Pichhore in Gwalior district, Ghuwara in Chhatarpur district, Raigaon in Satna district, and in Udayanagar in Dewas district.

The Cabinet has approved creating 228 non-academic and 233 academic posts. To start three new subjects at postgraduate level in one government college and new science and commerce faculties in five already-functional government colleges, the Cabinet has approved non-recurring expenditure of more than INR 5 crore and recurring expenditure of more than INR 24 crore per annum.

It has also approved the proposal of renaming the Chhindwara University to Raja Shankar Shah University. The cabinet has granted Medical Education Department to upgrade the TB Hospital in Bhopal to Regional Institute for Respiratory Diseases.

The Cabinet has authorised the Higher Education Department to pass the ordinance in the form of a Bill in the upcoming assembly session.
