Maharashtra Higher Education Minister Chandrakant Patil warns that NEET-UG re-test 2026 will delay pharmacy college admissions across the state as 15% pharmacy admissions are reserved under the all India quota seats for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) scores, and the process cannot proceed until the re-examination is held.

Pharmacy Admission in Maharashtra

Maharashtra's State Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil have warned that the upcoming NEET-UG re exam may delay both admission process and the start of the new academic session. Students looking to join pharmacy colleges in Maharashtra will have to wait longer this year following NEET 2026 exam cancellation. 

Reportedly, Maharashtra state’s Common Entrance Test Cell planned to wrap up the admissions process by the end of June month. However, because of NEET re-test 2026 scheduling for June 21, entire timeline has been pushed further. Minister Patil said that admissions for 15 percent pharmacy seats are under AIQ Maharashtra NEET counselling 2026. The state cannot move forward with seat allotment until the re-exam happens and the final results are published.

Along with the admission update, Minister Patil announced strict new rules to control how colleges should collect fees. He also introduced financial help for female students who are pursuing higher education in the state. The colleges cannot ask students with separate charges under different names, such as development fees or laboratory fees. Instead, all compulsory fee must be combined into one single fee structure. This total amount will be checked and managed by the state's Fee Regulatory Authority.
