MBBS interns at private medical colleges demand stipends at par with GMCs
After NMC has noticed the non-payment of stipends to MBBS interns, now interns at private medical colleges are demanding stipends at par with the stipend given at the government hospitals.
The issues of charging illegal internship fees and not giving the stipend to the MBBS interns are highlighted recently by National Medical Commission (NMC). Now the MBBS interns at private medical colleges are demanding an equal stipend offered at the government hospitals.
As per the Hindustan Times report, the MBBS interns in Mumbai are demanding equal stipends.
While government medical colleges are giving a monthly stipend of INR 11,000 to their MBBS interns, reportedly, private medical colleges are not doing the same.
Moreover, the National Student Union Of India (NSUI), Karnataka, has recently written to Dr Aruna V Vanikar, President, Undergraduate Medical Education Board about the non-payment of stipends to interns in private medical colleges.
