MBBS student found dead in Assam; Suicide suspected
In yet another case of suspected suicide, a medical student was found hanging in his hostel room in Assam. The student was pursuing MBBS from Diphu Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in Diphu under the Karbi Anglong district. He was reportedly stressed over his performance in the semester exams.
Reportedly, he took this extreme step as he was stressed over his poor performance in the MBBS semester exams. The result of the first-semester exam was declared four days back.
As per the pratidintime report, the body of the deceased has been sent for a post-mortem at DMCH and the family members have been informed about this tragic incident. The police are carrying out the investigation.
Recently, a female PG medical student committed suicide in Telangana's Warangal due to alleged harassment by her senior. Police arrested the accused in the case after the deceased's family filed a police complaint. Her relatives also held protests at the state-run Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in the city where she was being treated.
Also, a few days ago, an MBBS student committed suicide by jumping off a seven-storey building in the Bidar district of Karnataka. The deceased student was a topper in his college and was depressed after the death of his father.
