MP to set up education centre for improving nurses' skills
Madhya Pradesh is all set to establish India's first education centre for improving the skills of nurses.
After 200 nursing colleges were de-recognised in the state this year and also the high court issued notices to 7 nursing colleges in the tribal areas, now the state is going to set up India's first education centre for improving the skills of nurses of government hospitals and private medical institutions. Preparations have been started for this, this centre is to be constructed in Bhopal at a cost of INR 25 crores.
As per the officials of the state medical education department, there is no such dedicated institution in the country so far, in which skill training is given to the nursing staff after completing their studies, as reported by Daily Pioneer.
Till the building of the centre is constructed, the education centre will be operated in the building of the Government Nursing College of Gandhi Medical College. A total of 100 students will be able to take training in this institute. New vacancies will also be created for this centre. Until now, 27 new posts have been created for this institute.
Simulation labs will also be set up for the training of nursing staff in the Center of Excellence where nursing staff will be trained on the dummy.

The state has been in the news for some time for its poor quality of nursing education. As per reports, patients also complained about the lack of skills in the nursing staff of medical institutions and government hospitals.
In wake of these complaints now the state government is working to improve nursing education in the state, a Center of Excellence for Nursing and Midwifery Education will be established to make the nursing staff skilled in the work of nursing from primary level health facilities to super speciality hospitals. For a long time, efforts were being made for this centre by Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang.
There is 7000 nursing staff in the government medical colleges of Madhya Pradesh. Apart from this, 10 more new medical colleges are going to open in the state soon. In which 6500 nursing staff will be required, in such a situation, an institute will be formed for the process of making the nursing staff posted here.
