MUHS MBBS Final Year Exams 2021: The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) has postponed the final year post-graduate MBBS exams that were scheduled to commence on May 25.

With the rise in COVID-19 cases in the state, most of the final year PG doctors in government and civic medical colleges have been called back for duty. The doctors have therefore demanded a study leave of 45 days. The exams will now be conducted from June 24.

The Board of examinations has taken the decision to defer the exams. Exam Controller, MUHS, Dr. Ajit Pathak, said that resident doctors have been asked for time to study as most of them are now on COVID duty. In their letter, the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors had requested the University to not postpone the exam by more than a month.

However, the ongoing spike in COVID-19 cases in the state did not impact the turnout of the students for the final-year undergraduate health science examinations.

While speaking to a media house, Pathak said, “95 per cent of the 10,995 aspirants appeared for the theory exams at the 165 exam centres across the state. The examinations were conducted without any hiccups, and both invigilators and examinees followed COVID-19 guidelines.”

He further added that they have toiled hard as a team for the smooth conduct of the exams. Some staff members couldn’t work as they had tested positive for COVID.

The practices for the 5,300 MBBS final-year UG students began on Tuesday, which is scheduled to be completed by April 20.
