The National Medical Commission (NMC) has revised NEET UG seat matrix 2025. A total of 9075 new MBBS seats are added and 456 seats have bdue to ongoing court cases. At present, 1,26,600 total MBBS seats are available in India in 2025-26 academic session. However, this revised seat matrix excludes seats in AIIMS and JIPMER. NMC has revised NEET UG seat matrix 2025 several times in current academic session. Hence, students must carefully check seat matrix and follow revised MBBS/ BDS seat intake as issued by National Medical Commission.
NEET UG Counselling 2025 Seat Matrix Revisions
NMC has revised NEET UG seat matrix several times. In September 2025, it added 6850 seats and removed 1056 seats. After 10 days, NMC revised seat matrix and added 7375 seats and removed 456 seats after including supernumerary seats. This revised seat matrix followed Cabinet’s approval of 10,000 MBBS seats under Phase 3 of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) expansion, as reported by Indianexpress.
NEET UG Counselling 2025: Round 3 Choice Filling Ends Today
MCC will conclude NEET round 3 choice filling and locking process 2025 today, i.e. October 13, 2025. Students who have not selected their choice of college and course for round 3 admissions can complete choice-filling and locking process before 11:59 PM today.

The terms Clear Vacancy and Virtual Vacancy are related to the NEET seat matrix, which is released prior to each round of counselling. Clear Vacancy means empty or unclaimed seats at the end of the institute reporting process conducted at the end of each round. After the declaration of the seat allotment result, if a candidate exits the seat, then those seats come under the Clear Vacancy category. On the other hand, Virtual Vacancy refers to the seats which are considered to be available, if candidates allotted those seats opt for upgradation. In case their seat is not upgraded then the virtual vacancy will not be applicable anymore.
No, you will have to get online generated relieving letter from the earlier institute, before you join the next college. Without such relieving letter, candidates will not be permitted to join the seat allotted in round 2. Upgradation is applicable for only those candidates who have joined allotted seat of first round and submit willingness for upgradation.

No, candidates need not report or join the allotted college of NEET counselling Round 1 since there is free exit. However if they want to retain the Round 1 seat and upgrade in Round 2 they have to physically join the college of Round 1 and give up-gradation willingness for Round 2 at the time of admission. In case candidates decide to resign the seat allotted to them in the first round, then they can do so prior to registering in the next round of NEET counselling.
