NEET PG 2021 exam postponed by at least 4 months
The government has announced to postpone the NEET PG 2021 exam by at least four years to augment human resources in the healthcare sector. The measure has been taken as the country is battling with corona situation.
NEET PG 2021 exam will be postponed by at least four months, the Centre announced on Monday. The decision has been taken to ensure the availability of enough healthcare professionals to fight COVID-19 which has wreaked havoc across the country.
"A decision was taken to postpone NEET PG 2021 for at least 4 months and the exam will not be held before 31st August 2021. Students will also be given at least one month of time after the announcement of the exam before it is conducted. This will make a large number of qualified doctors available for Covid duties,” the release said.
The postponement of medical entrance exam for postgraduate students is among a series of measures the government has approved recently in order to fill the gap of shortage of healthcare professionals to fight corona pandemic. On May 2, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed various measures including the idea of appointing medical graduates to assist the healthcare sector amid the devastating second wave of the global pandemic.
“Final year MBBS students can be utilized for teleconsultation and monitoring of mild COVID cases under the supervision of Faculty. The BSc/GNM Qualified Nurses to be utilized in full-time Covid nursing duties under the supervision of Senior Doctors and Nurses,” PMO has said. The medical personnel who will complete 100 days of COVID duty will be given Prime Minister’s COVID National Service Samman. At the same time they will be given priority in the government recruitment, the PMO further said.
Earlier the Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan had announced that NEET PG 2021 exam will be postponed till further notice. NEET PG 2021 exam was scheduled to be held on April 18, 2021. The revised date has yet not been announced for NEET PG 2021 exam. Candidates are advised to keep track of NEET PG 2021 dates so that they don't miss any important details and events of the exam. NEET PG 2021 exam is conducted online once a year to fill 10,821 MS seats, 19,953 MD seats, and 1,979 PG Diploma seats offered by various medical colleges in India.
