After the NEET SS 2022 special mop-up round was conducted to fill 1000 vacant seats, there were as many as 900 seats remained vacant, and FORDA requested the health ministry to conduct another round of counselling to fill these seats. However, the latest notice from MCC has confirmed that there will be no more rounds of NEET SS 2022 to fill these seats.

NEET SS 2022: MCC to not conduct more rounds to fill vacant seats

Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued a notice regarding the refund of NEET SS 2022 and also stated that there will be no further rounds of counselling to fill the vacant seats.

MCC's notice stated, "As informed by NMC and MoHFW, all the rounds of Super Specialty (DM/MCh/DNB SS) counselling for the Academic Session 2022-23 is over and there will be no further round of NEET SS counselling for DM/MCh/DNB SS seats. Hence, it is to inform all candidates who have participated in Super Specialty (DM/MCh?DNB SS) for this Acadmic Session 2022-23 that the refund process of all eligible candidates will start shortly."

FORDA India tweet reads, "MCC notice stating no more rounds for NEET SS 2022-23 session. A very sad decision as many DM/McH seats have gone vacant. Tremendous loss for the country’s healthcare. No care for the #rights of doctors. Apathy everywhere. These seats were national assets acc to Hon’ble SC of India."

The background

A special NEET SS 2022 mop-up round was conducted to fill vacant 1000 seats, and even after this round, 900 seats remained vacant. For these seats, Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) had requested the the union health ministry to conduct a NEET SS 2022 mop-up round 2 so that these seats could be prevented from getting wasted.
