NMC warns Indians against admission in one of Kyrgyzstan's medical college

There are many question marks over the quality of medical education provided in countries like Ukraine, Russia and Kyrgyzstan. The latest is, National Medical Commission (NMC) has warned Indian medical aspirants against the fake claim of Avicenna International Medical University in Kyrgyzstan that it is NMC's approved.

"This is to inform all that a fake letter dated September 16 stating that 'Avicenna International Medical University (Bishek) is recognised by National Medical Commission and Indian students can study here to become a doctor' is in circulation under the signature of the Secretary, NMC and Under Secretary, NMC. In this regard, it is clarified that the above letter is fake as National Medical Commission has not issued the same," reads NMC's notice.

Earlier in February this year also, NMC issued an advisory for candidates applying to medical colleges in Kyrgyzstan and other foreign countries.

NMC had stated, “It has come to the notice of the Ministry of External Affairs that a few new medical colleges have been launched in Kyrgyzstan in last one year namely, the Avicenna University, Adam University, Royal Metro University, Int'l Medical University, Salymbekov University, ABC, etc and nearly two hundred Indian students have already been enrolled in these institutions without enrollment of a single Kyrgyz student.”

"In this context, any prospective student needs to be aware that there may be some supervisory, regulatory, and infrastructural issues in these colleges that should not be overlooked before taking admissions there. Allowing overseas students on the day of the launch also runs contrary to international norms requisite to enrol foreign students. Also, students are advised to refer to the National Medical Commission's FMGE Regulations, 2021 before applying or planning to seek admission in any institutions in Kyrgyzstan or any other foreign country," added NMC.
