Orissa: Docs' association threatens agitation from Feb 1, 2023
Days after the salary hike given to the medical faculties of Orissa's medical colleges, the Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) threatens the agitation from February 1, 2023.
Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) has threatened to launch a cease work agitation from February 1, 2023, demanding promotion and salary at par with the Central pay scale.
It came a few days after when the state government hiked the salary of professors, associate professors and assistant professors (both regular and contractual) to retain the senior faculty members.
OMSA is the state body of government doctors. The association has alleged that despite several rounds of talks with the state government over the demands of doctors, no step has been taken to fulfil the demands so far.
The doctors' association has alleged that despite the doctors coming forward to provide uninterrupted healthcare services during the Covid-19 pandemic by putting their lives at risk and four health secretaries have served the department in the last three years and held talks with OMSA four times, the demands are still unfulfilled, as reported by Indian Express.
