The government of Punjab is all set to establish the Sikhya-te-Sehat fund for the creation and revival of health and education infrastructure in the state.

Punjab govt to revive health and education infrastructure

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann chaired a Cabinet meeting where a decision was taken to constitute the Sikhya-te-Sehat fund for the creation and revival of health and education infrastructure in the state.

“The ‘Sikhya-te-Sehat’ fund is primarily aimed at creating and sprucing up capital assets in the fields of health and education within the geographical limits of the state for the benefit of the public through mobilising voluntary donations,” an official spokesperson said, as reported by Indian Express.

The Chief Minister will be the chairperson of the trust with the finance minister as its vice-chairperson, the chief secretary as member secretary and ministers of health, school education, medical education, higher education and technical education departments as its trustees. The trust will also have an advisory committee headed by the Chief Secretary.

More facilities granted for guest, part time lecturers of government colleges

The Punjab Cabinet also give its nod for granting half pay leave, earned leave and extraordinary leave to guest faculty and part-time lecturers of the government colleges in addition to the existing casual and maternity leaves.

The Cabinet also approved a proposal for the signing of a shareholders agreement (SHA) and state support agreement (SSA) for the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC) project near Rajpura. It is coming up with the support of the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC). The project will act as a catalyst for local commerce, and business with global competitiveness and create an environment conducive to investments.
