Russia-Ukraine conflict: Indian Embassy advises students to leave Ukraine temporarily

Indian nationals are also advised to avoid all non-essential travel to and within Ukraine.

The embassy of India in Kyiv has asked Indians, particularly students whose stay is not essential, to leave Ukraine temporarily in view of uncertainties of the current situation.

The situation on the ground between Russia and Ukraine seems tense as new satellite images of Russian deployment around Ukraine's borders show increased military activity in the past 48 hours. As per reports, the massive build-up comes amid fears that Russia is about to invade Ukraine.

Thousands of Indian students head to Ukraine and Russia to pursue higher education, particularly Medical education. Indian students in Ukraine are already concerned due to the ongoing situation in the country as flight rates have also escalated amid the ongoing crisis making a return home even more difficult.

Indian Embassy in Kyiv has issued an advisory for Indians in Ukraine to leave the country temporarily.

In view of the uncertainties of the current situation in Ukraine, Indian nationals in Ukraine, particularly students whose stay is not essential, may consider leaving temporarily. Indian nationals are also advised to avoid all non-essential travel to and within Ukraine.

As per the advisory issued by the embassy, Indian nationals are requested to keep the Embassy informed about the status of their presence in Ukraine to enable the Embassy to reach them where required. The Embassy continues to function normally to provide all services to Indian nationals in Ukraine.
