SC refuses to postpone DNB/DrNB final exams
Supreme Court of India has refused to interfere in the decision of the exam conducting body for DNB/DrNB final exams.
There is no change in the date of the final examination for Diplomate of National Board (DNB)/DrNB which is scheduled to be conducted from December 16 to December 19 as the top court of India has dismissed the writ petition seeking postponement of these examinations.
The petition was filed by four doctors who wanted to postpone the examination dates as they were on Covid-19 duty. The petitioners' counsel, Senior Advocate Sanjay Hegde submitted to the top court, "These are doctors who have served right through Covid. We are not asking for postponement of practicals. But to get to the practicals we have to go through a mountain of theory. What we need is a little breathing space. I am not speaking in terms of rights or wrongs."
The Supreme Court has observed that the decision of any change in the examination dates should be taken entirely by the exam conducting body and the court will not interfere in this matter.
Moreover, in another case related to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) (NEET-UG) 2021, the Supreme Court has dismissed a writ petition demanding to delete a question in Physics in NEET-UG 2021 due to the alleged translation error. The Centre constituted a three-member panel for examining if there was an error in the said question due to translation and informed the court that they could not find any error in the question.
