Telangana to get 29 medical colleges soon
The state government has approved 16 more medical colleges in Telangana while proposals for 13 colleges were in the queue.
As many as 13 new medical colleges in Telangana were already being established, and now Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has approved 16 more new medical colleges in the state which takes the tally of new medical colleges in making in the state to 29.
Rama Rao expressed his expansion plans and further stated that medical colleges in Sangareddy, Mahabubabad, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Ramagundam and Jagtial are almost completed and the college in Kothagudem will soon be inaugurated.
Telangana's CM scripting history in medical education, says KTR
The Chief Minister’s son, Telangana's IT Minister KTR tweeted, "Hon'ble Telangana CM #KCR Garu has scripting History in medical education. Before 2014, in 67 years only 5 Govt medical colleges were setups in #Telangana. In the last 8 years, 16 new medical colleges sanctioned & 13 more to be set up making it one medical college per Dist (sic)."
Ever since Telangana state was formed in 2014, four new medical colleges were established in Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Suryapet and Siddipet. Furthermore, in the second phase, the colleges were established in Mancherial, Ramagundam, Jagtial, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Sangareddy. Admissions to these eight colleges would begin from this academic year, he added.
KTR had also recently alleged through Twitter that Centre has sanctioned zero medical colleges for the state. To his allegations, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya replied that the state never sent any proposals for the sanctioning of new medical colleges.
