West Bengal Government has decided to give admissions to Ukraine-returned medical students in Bengal's colleges.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led West Bengal government has decided to give admissions to the Ukraine-returned medical students in Bengal's colleges. The state government has claimed to have adopted all 422 students and three workers from the state who were evacuated from Ukraine.
As per the West Bengal government's official statement, out of total Ukraine returnees, 412 were medical students including 409 MBBS and three dental students. Further, six engineering, one veterinary student, and three workers were also rescued from Ukraine.
The state government has said that all these students have been accommodated in the West Bengal colleges themselves and they might not have to return to Ukraine, as reported by News 18.
Centre remains indifferent to Ukraine returned medical students, alleges Mamata Banerjee
The West Bengal Chief Minister has said that while the state government has made special provisions for Ukraine returned students, the Centre has remained indifferent to them.
"We have tried our best to accommodate most of them in our private and government medical/engineering colleges. We accommodated them on humane grounds. The Modi government is indifferent about the future of Ukraine returnee medical students," said Mamata Banerjee.
These students have been evacuated from the war-torn country Ukraine under the Central government's Operation Ganga. Ever since they have reached India, the students and their family members are worried about the future and careers of these students as their studies have been disrupted and there seems no option to go back to Ukraine immediately.
