The Uttar Pradesh government has approved 56 acres of land for the Government Institute Of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Greater Noida.

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has decided to give 56 acres of land in Greater Noida to the Government Institute of Medical Sciences at no cost. The land is on the Gautam Buddh University campus and belongs to the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA).

GIMS Greater Noida has been running an MBBS training programme for 100 students since 2019 and postgraduate courses from 2020 and also facilitates healthcare facilities, as reported by India Today.

NMC mandates building ownership for expansion 

Uttar Pradesh cabinet noted, “Presently, there is no land and building in the ownership of Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida. The college building, library and hostel buildings, etc have been taken on rent from Gautam Buddha University.”

“According to the standards of the National Medical Commission, it is necessary to have a college building, library, and other buildings in the ownership of the institution for the operation and expansion of the institute,” it added further.

"In the last five years in Uttar Pradesh, the foundation of security and good governance has been prepared. On this foundation, a grand building of progress and prosperity will be ready in the next five years. "Uttar Pradesh is poised to become the second economy of the country. Uttar Pradesh ranks first in the country in the implementation of about 50 developmental welfare schemes of the central government. The people of the state have benefited from the schemes that were implemented with complete honesty without any discrimination," he added.
