MHRD has today announced that the alternative academic calendar for classes 11th and 12th have been launched by the NCERT.

Ministry of Human Resource and Development has announced that the alternative academic calendar for classes 11 and 12 have been released by the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT). Union Minister for Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' tweeted about the release of the academic calendar.

The academic calendar has been developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). The Academic Calendar has been released by NCERT in both Hindi and English language. The calendar includes several subjects like Social Science, Accounting, Business Studies and many more.

“The calendar will cater to the needs of all children including Divyang children (Children with Special Need)- link for Audiobooks, Radio programmes, Video programmes, etc. will be included,” the Education Minister tweeted.

In May, NCERT had launched a 4-week activity-based academic calendar for students of classes 1 to 10 to help them deal with the Covid-19 pandemic and it focuses on learning outcomes and competency-based learning rather than marks.

While talking about the academic calendar, the minister said, “This will empower our students, teachers, school principals, and parents to find out positive ways to deal with Covid-19 using on-line teaching-learning resources and help in the attainment of learning outcomes.”

In mid-March, schools, coaching centres and all educational institutions around the country were closed as a preventive step to contain further spread of coronavirus.

NCERT has also suggested teachers contact students and teach them over call, through SMS and voice recorded message, in case the Internet is not available at a student's home.
