Odisha College University Opening: The state government of Odisha has decided to reopen colleges for undergraduate, postgraduate, and engineering students from August 9, 2021. According to the reports, Colleges, Polytechnic institutions, ITIs, will be commencing their physical classes soon for final year students. Reopening of hostels have also been allowed.  The decision has been considering the improving scenario of COVID-19 pandemic. Odisha government re-opened schools from July 26, 2021. However, schools are open only for senior classes that is class 10, 11, and class 12.

The institutions have been directed to reopen following COVID-19 norms. Students have been directed to strictly follow social distancing and wear masks, use hand sanitizers to prevent the COVID-19. All the institutions which are reopening will have to follow Standard Operating Procedures against COVID-19. According to a statement released by the Odisha government, Skill development and Technical Education Department, all precautionary measures such as sanitization of classrooms, laboratories, hostels, will be done. Reports also suggest that proper disinfection of the educational institutions will bedone by following the COVID-19 guidelines. As of now, institutions will be re-opening only for final-year students. There has been no notification in regards to resuming physical classes for students of other years.

According to the statement by the Odisha government, Skill development and Technical Education Department, "Considering the improvement in COVID-19 situation in Odisha, the state government directed all the Technical Universities, Engineering and Professional Colleges, Polytechnics & Diploma institutions and ITIs of the State, under the administrative control of the Skill Development and Technical Education Department, to re-open their respective institutions for the final year students with effect from August 9, following Standard Operating Procedure."
