The schools will resume physical classes for Class 11 students from October 21 and for Class 8 students from October 25 onwards.

Schools in Odisha are all set to reopen from tomorrow; i.e October 21, for both English and Odia medium. After a gap of 18 months, the schools will resume physical classes for Class 11 students from October 21 and for Class 8 students from October 25 onwards. Ahead of the school reopening, the government has issued guidelines for COVID-19 safety.

As per the guidelines, teachers and the School Management Committee will convene a meeting from October 17 to 24 to make a plan for the resumption of physical classes for Class 8 students on October 25. The sanitization and cleanliness of the school started on October 17. The headmasters of respective schools have been asked to submit a detailed report about the cleaning activities to the District Education Officer a day before the reopening of schools.

As the schools will resume the offline classes after 18 months, the teachers on the first two days will guide students regarding the extra-curricular activities, debate competitions, singing, drawing, etc. All those students who are currently in Class 8 have not studied anything in Class 7. However, they might have a good hold over the curriculum of Class 6.

Owing to all these factors, teachers will conduct the assessment tests for students on October 27 (Odia), October 28 (Maths) and October 29 (English). The questions papers will be provided by OSEPA and SCIRT. All those students who are not coming to schools will also have to appear for the assessment test from home. Once the assessment test is over, the principals will impart remedial teaching.
