Rashtrapati Bhavan invites online applications for 7th Visitor's awards in different categories

Rashtrapati Bhavan is now inviting online applications from faculty members and students of Central Universities for Visitor's Awards 2021 in different categories. Applicants can apply for the Visitor’s Award for Innovation, Visitor’s Award for Research in Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, Physical Sciences and Biological Sciences; also visitor’s Award for Technology Development.

The Visitor’s Awards were instituted in 2014 with the aim to promote healthy completion amongst Central Universities and motivate them to adopt best practices from around the world in pursuit of excellence. President in his capacity as the Visitor of Central Universities presents the Awards.
The Selection Committee goes through a rigorous procedure to select the finalists and recommends their names to the President of India, who is the Visitor of all Central Universities, for conferment of Visitor’s Awards. Once the President of India approves the recommendations of the Selection Committee, the names of the winners are announced and awards presented by the President of India in Rashtrapati Bhavan.
In 2020, Prof. Anunay Samanta, School of Chemistry, the University of Hyderabad was conferred with Visitor’s Award for Research (Physical Sciences), for his research on Ultrafast pump-probe and single-molecule fluorescence spectroscopic study of charge carrier dynamics in photoexcited perovskite nanocrystals. Prof. Mohammad Zahid Ashraf, Department of Biotechnology, Jamia Millia Islamia was awarded Visitor’s Award for Research (Biological Sciences), 2020, for his research on hypoxia-induced thrombosis. Prof. Pritam Deb, Department of Physics, Tezpur University was awarded Visitor’s Award for Technology Development,2020, for his work on the development of Biodegradable Polymer Film Reinforce with Two Dimensional Heterostructure for Food Packaging.
