Amit Shah to hand over 50,000 job letters to youth in Assam on May 10

In 2021, BJP formed its successive government and also promised to provide one lakh jobs to youth in the government sector. Since then, the government has appointed 41,920 candidates in the sector. Apart from government jobs, the state government is also pushing for self-employment.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on behalf of the Assam government will hand over 50,000 job appointment letters on May 10 to mark second anniversary of the state's second BJP-led government. In 2021, BJP formed its successive government and also promised to provide one lakh jobs to youth in the government sector. Since then, the government has appointed 41,920 candidates in the sector.
Apart from government jobs, the state government is also pushing for self-employment. In the state Budget for the Financial year 2023-24, INR 5,000 crore was passed for three years for the scheme to provide self-employment opportunities to two lakh youths of the state and help them stand on their own and transform them into job creators.
The scheme titled, 'Mukhya Mantri Sva-Niyojan Mission' aims to create self-employment by promoting micro-entrepreneurs among the unemployed youths belonging to BPL families and low-income households.
The state government has also come up with several income-generating activities like trading, manufacturing, service, food processing, handloom, handicraft, agriculture and allied-animal husbandry activities, fishery and dairy for self-employment. The government is also planning to cover one lakh eligible beneficiaries by providing them with a one-time seed capital of INR 2 lakh in tranches for starting up micro-enterprise units in the next three years.
On May 3, the state government announced results of 11,510 vacancies for grade three posts. Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, "The journey towards achieving one lakh regular government appointments in Assam continues." On May 4, 2023, the Recruitment Commission for Grade IV posts announced the results for 14,281 vacancies in various departments.
