IAS Civil list 2020 was released by the Minister of State, Dr Jitendra Singh on June 25. The IAS civil list is the collection of all the names, cadres, pay and allowance details of all the IAS officers posted in India. The civil list provides all the important information about the IAS officers in India at one place.
On the occasion of releasing the IAS civil list 2020, the MoS said: “the dynamic list will help in selecting the right officer for the right assignment based on available profile and is a vital source of information on the officers manning various posts for the general public”. UPSC conducts the Civil Service (IAS) Exam every year to recruit the IAS officers in India.
Releasing the IAS civil list is a yearly event and Dr Jitendra Singh released the 65th IAS Civil list 2020. Along with the hard copy of the list, the honourable minister also released 2nd e-version of the IAS civil list. At the sidelines of events, he stressed on the reforms carried over in Modi government’s tenure. He mentioned about introducing three months Union government stint for the newly appointed IAS officers after the training as the assistant secretary in the Government of India. This was introduced in the tenure of Modi government, before it, the newly appointed IAS officers were sent to the allocated states after completion of the training.
By introducing the stint, the IAS probationers become familiar with the working at the top level before going at the grass-root level. As on January 2020, the number of authorised IAS cadre strength was six thousand seven hundred and fifteen (6715) and the number of IAS officers posted were five thousand two hundred and five (5205). So as on January 2020, there was a shortage of 1510 IAS officers in India.
This shortage of IAS officers is coped by giving additional charges to IAS officers and sometimes roping in the state PCS officers for the posts held by IAS officers.
He also mentioned the introduction of PM excellence award in the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances.
