Indian Economic Services 2020 exam in October, Notification in August. Read below for details

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on July 21, issued a notice mentioning that on the request of Department of Economic Affairs, it will conduct the Indian Economic Services Exam 2020 from October 16 to 18. The UPSC will release the IES 2020 notification on August 11.

Earlier the UPSC had issued an official notice for not conducting the Indian Economic Services 2020 exam because of nil vacancies notified by the Ministry of Finance. But now the previous notice will be void because of the new request made by the Department of Economic Affairs to UPSC.

The IES 2020 will be conducted at the designated exam centres across the nation. The IES exam is conducted every year to recruit specialised services. The IES exam is conducted offline in the pen and paper mode.

The Indian Economic Service exam is a two-stage exam. The first stage comprises six conventional type question papers. Each paper is of 200 marks except the General English and General studies paper. The Indian Economic Service exam is conducted in the following way.

Indian Economic Service (IES) is an organized Group ‘A’ Central Service having all India level recruitment exam. The Cadre Controlling of the IES is managed by the Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs). The Cadre Controlling Authority is advised, on policy matters pertaining to the service, by the high-level IES Board, which is headed by the Cabinet Secretary.
