According to a statement issued by Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in Rajya Sabha, language will not be a hindrance in the planned All-India Judicial Service (AIJS) as the government is deliberating four zones.

According to a statement issued by Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in Rajya Sabha, language will not be a hindrance in the planned All-India Judicial Service (AIJS) as the government is deliberating four zones. He asserted that the government was making efforts to expedite the establishment of AIJS. He appealed to stakeholders including all high courts to give up their traditional and conventional opposition and support the great judicial reform. He was replying to a supplementary question during the Question Hour. One of the members had asked questions if the government was planning to hold exams in 29 languages. He informed that the exams would take place in line with UPSC.

He held that there would be four categories in the entire country for AIJS so that people from east, west, north and south could come in those regions. The language would not be a problem. He requested all stakeholders to support the great initiative of judicial reform and make it a success. He also asserted that stakeholder consultation process was in the process even though the government was making efforts to expedite the process despite the opposition from many state governments and high courts. He asserted that the planned AIJS would offer a good talent pool.

He said that AIJS would be in line with the merit process of UPSC so that India’s judicial service also attract the best talent and proper representation also. He further added that many states and high courts are on board.
