NDA 1 2026 Notification: What’s New?

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released NDA 1 2026 notification on December 10 for a total of 394 vacancies. Along with the notification, the apply online link has been activated. Few changes have been noticed in the notification. This time, the vacancies for the Navy wing in National Defence Academy and Indian Naval Academy (INAC) has been announced for all executive branch. Both male and female candidates can apply. The overall NDA vacancies 2026 are less compared to last year. In 2025, more than 400 vacancies were announced. Selection of candidates for NDA exam is done based on the written exam and SSB Interview. Only unmarried male and female candidates born not earlier than July 1, 2007 and not later than July 1, 2010 can apply.

What is Executive Branch in NDA Navy?

The Executive branch in NDA Navy handles the core leadership and operations. They are responsible for handling navigation, warfare, etc. Specialized branches for these General Service (Seaman), Logistics, Air Traffic Control (ATC), Law, Information Technology, etc.

Q:   What is the per month salary for NDA Officers?
A:

NDA salary per month is INR 56,100 during the training period. After joining NDA, candidates get the starting salary. Over the time, the NDA salary increases based on the experience and performance. NDA salary per month for Lieutenant is between INR 56,100-1,77,500. The highest NDA salary for Officer is INR 2,50,000 per month for the Chief of Army Staff. The month-wise NDA salary is given below:

  • Captain: INR 61,300-1,93,900
  • Major: INR 6,94,00-2,07,200
  • Lieutenant Colonel: INR 1,21,200-2,12,400
Q:   What is the process of training in NDA Pune?
A:

NDA is the joint training institute for all three services-Army, Navy and Air Force. After joining the NDA cadet undergo training for three years. After graduating from NDA candidates are sent to their respective training academies for one year of training before commissioning. Army cadets are sent to the Indian Military Academy (Dehradun), naval cadets to the Indian Naval Academy (Ezhimala), and Air Force cadets to the Air Force Academy (Dundigal, Hyderabad).

Q:   Is NDA exam conducted online or offline?
A:
NDA exam is conducted in two shifts-morning and afternoon. The Maths paper is held from 10:00 AM-12:30 PM and GAT is held in the afternoon shift from 10:00 AM-12:30 PM.
