Over 3,800 candidates appear for NTSE Stage 1 from Puducherry
More than 3,800 Class 10 students across the Union Territory of Puducherry took the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) on Sunday.
SCERT Puducherry conducted the NTS Examination on December 13 for which over 3,800 candidates across the Union Territory appeared. The scholarship examination was conducted under the guidelines of the Ministry of Education at 20 centres.
A total of 4,439 candidates applied for the examination of which 3,863 (87.02) candidates appeared. The region-wise break-up of students was Puducherry 2,694 (86.62%), Karaikal 789 (85.67%), Mahe 143 (90%) and Yanam 237 (94%).
The question booklets along with the answer keys will be available on www.nmmsntspdy.com from December 16.
Any query/objection related to answer keys has to be registered by mail to nmmsnts@gmail.com on or before December 18, the Directorate said.
About NTSE
NTSE is a scholarship exam conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) for identifying talented students who want to pursue higher education in Science and Social Studies streams. The exam is conducted for students studying in class 10th. NTSE is conducted at two stages. The stage 1 exam is conducted at the state-level by all states and UTs, while NTSE stage 2 is conducted by NCERT at the national level only for those students who qualify the stage 1 exam. The students qualifying in NTSE stage 1 are eligible to appear for the Stage II exam. The aim of the NTSE scheme is to award a scholarship to talented students, who wish to pursue higher education in Science and Social Studies stream, to help continue their education. NTSE 2021 stage 2 is scheduled to be conducted on June 13.
