SSC to Conduct RPF Exams Annually, Announces Union Railway Minister

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that the Staff Selection Commission will conduct RPF recruitment exam annually from now onwards.
The Staff Selection Commission will now conduct RPF recruitment exams annually. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced this change during 41st Raising Day celebration of RPF in Valsad. The move is aimed at making RPF SI and Constable recruitment process easier. With annual exams, candidates do not have to wait for months for next recruitment cycle. The merit-based, transparent recruitment system of SSC will make selection process faster. Earlier, Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) used to conduct RPF recruitment exams for SI and Constable.

Eligibility for RPF Sub-Inspector Recruitment
To be eligible for RPF SI recruitment, candidate must:
- Be Indian citizen
- Hold a postgraduate degree from a recognised university
- Fulfill age limit, physical standards, and medical requirements as prescribed by the Staff Selection Commission
Recruitment of RPF Constable
To apply for RPF Constable post, candidates must:
- Be a citizen of India
- Have passed the 12th standard or an equivalent examination from a recognised board
- Meet the age limit, physical standards, and medical requirements as specified by the Staff Selection Commission

RPF SI vacancies were announced along with the notification. A total of 452 vacancies have been announced for RPF SI exam. The selection of candidates against the vacancies will be done based on Computer Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET) / Physical Standard Test (PST) and Document Verification & Medical Test. Any graduate candidate can apply for the exam to get recruited as Sub-Inspector (SI) in the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF).
The gross salary of an RPF Sub Inspector ranges from INR 43,000 to 52,000 depending upon their place of posting. This inclusive salary amount comprises basic pay, grade pay, DA, HRA and other applicable allowances. As basic pay is INR 35,400 according to 7th CPC pay matrix, the other allowances add up substantially to the CTC.
