Will SSC CGL 2020 main get postponed amid the surge in COVID-19 infections?

India reported over three lakh COVID-19 cases on January 20. The majority number of cases are of ‘Delta variant’ of the coronavirus and a meagre number of omicron variant. This is the same Delta variant that played havoc in April-May 2021. The candidates are demanding to postpone the SSC CGL main 2020 exam so that the safety of the around two lakh candidates can be ensured.

SSC postponed the CHSL exam in April 2021 because of the surge in COVID-19 infection cases across the nation. The cases coming across the nation were near to two lakhs only in April 2020. In the present times, the number of cases is increased to over three lakh cases per day and hence the candidates are demanding postponement of the SSC CGL 2020 main exam.

SSC CGL 2020 Tier-I exam was also postponed because of the pandemic. SSC CGL 2020 Tier-I exam was scheduled for May-June 2021, but it was postponed due to COVID-19 and later the tier-I exams were conducted from August 13 to 24. SSC will soon take the decision on this important issue as the demand of candidates are emerging from all corners.

SSC released the candidates’ response sheet and answer key on September 2. Later, the final answer key was released on December 6. The SSC CGL 2020 Tier-I result was declared on November 26. The total number of vacancies in the SSC CGL 2020 exam is 7913.
